dhuni Indian Incense

Named after the sadhu’s sacred fireplace, dhuni is a small company dedicated to sourcing the world’s best incense.

dhuni incense is made from solely natural botanicals grown and harvested in India. It is made without glues or synthetics. It uses no charcoal, no essential oils, and no additives of any kind. It is 100% Indian spices, bark and resin and it smells absolutely divine. It is dried solely under the warmth of the sun. No machines are used any stage of its production. Even the packaging is made by hand in northern India.

dhuni natural incense sticks are available in 12 sumptuous blends: Citronella, Hari Om, Kashi, Khus, Lotus Flower, Moksha, Nag Champa, Special Amber, and now, Frangipani, Lakshmi, Sandalwood, and Temple .

dhuni Special Amber Incense
SPECIAL AMBER: One of the most exquisite dhuni blends of them all is the Special Amber incense. Amber, which is technically a fossilized tree resin, has been esteemed for it’s golden translucent color and it’s fragrant vanilla-like smell for thousands of years. The Phoenicians and Etruscans believed that amber warded off evil spirits, while in China they believed that amber was the soul of a tiger that had passed into the earth. Amber is used in Ayurvedic medicine as an aphrodisiac and an aid to meditation.

These amber incense sticks are fatter than dhuni's other blends, and contain a huge quantity of ground amber resin, as well as a couple of other subtle notes to complement the smell of amber. They are mind-blowingly delicious, and utilize amber’s natural ability to counteract negative energies, balance the chakras, and ground the higher energies. Like all dhuni incense, they’re handmade, the amber is ethically sourced, and the incense is made without chemicals of any kind.

dhuni Bhatki Incense

BHATKI:
This is very different from dhuni's other blends, with a delicious sweetness to it. It’s a thick, extremely aromatic stick that’s fresh, intense and very friendly to the nose. This is the kind of stick you pick up on when entering a yoga shala, with an exotic subnote, topped off with a number of subtle overtones.

They've called it Bhakti – which means devotion in Sanskrit, but suggests a participatory relationship with the divine. A bhakti in India is someone lost in love for the divine, or whose chosen method of spiritual practice is that of devotion, as opposed to the other traditional Indian schools of jnani yoga – knowledge, or karma yoga – action or helping others

dhuni Citronella Incense
CITRONELLA: dhuni Citronella (Lemongrass) natural incense is not made from a charcoal stick dipped in lemongrass oil but from 100% plant botanicals hand rolled onto a bamboo stick. This is the old fashioned method, and much more time consuming, but you’ll find the results quite extraordinary! dhuni Citronella (lemongrass) is a pure smelling mosquito repelling delight, created from wild crafted Indian lemongrass, dried under the sun, then ground and rolled onto sticks with a secret blend of other herbs and spices. The lemongrass benefits are said to be: detoxifying of the system, stimulating digestion, and improving the quality of the skin. Also known by the name Sweet Rush or Fever Grass in the Caribbean, the lemongrass plant be used as a remedy for ague, fevers, and colds.

This is a bright, upbeat incense fragrance which many customers burn purely for the smell, regardless of its proven effects at repelling insects.

As with all dhuni products, they’re handmade and so each stick is different. Store them in a dry place, free from moisture, and burn them in an incense dish to collect the ash. Also very useful for sticking in the earth around the garden during those summer barbeques to keep away the mosquitoes when trying to have your dinner.

dhuni Nag Champa Incense

NAG CHAMPA: In India, champa plants are a symbol of immortality because of their ability to produce leaves and flowers even after it they’ve been lifted out of the ground. Champa is often planted near temples and graveyards, where the fresh flowers fall daily upon the tombs. In Hindu culture, the champa flower, or phool, symbolizes loyalty. Hindu women put a flower in their hair on their wedding days to show their loyalty to their husbands. Burning nag champa incense is, therefore, a highly sacred affair in India and done for many reasons beyond merely its pleasing smell.

dhuni Nag Champa incense is the real thing. Indian incenses containing Plumeria, known in the West as Frangipani, have Champa in their name. This is dhuni’s take on the most classic incense of them all, hand made and absolutely chemical free. Likely to be the only genuine Nag Champa you’ll ever come across, and very special.
