CASA BURNER: In the treeless Southwest, many dwellings are still made from bricks of adobe, a mixture of mud and straw. The thick walls provide comfort in the freezing cold or baking sun. Many adobe structures have lasted hundreds of years.

CEREMONIAL HOUSE: The Ceremonial House comes from the United States and Canada. These wooden buildings were used as placed for ceremonial gatherings. On the original structures, the carving of the totems and other wood offers examples of fine craftsmanship and artistry.

CHIMENEA: The Chimenea is a round outdoor fireplace once found in many Native American villages and haciendas in the Southwest. HORNO (OVEN): These mud brick ovens have been used for centuries in the pueblos (Native American villages) of the Southwest. Aromatic wood fires still perfume Zuni, Ute, Navajo and Hopi communities today.

IGLESIA (CHURCH): The Spanish first built churches in this unique style in the 16th Century throughout Mexico and what is now the American Southwest. The few that remain remind us of when the mission-style churches were the center of every village's commercial, educational, and social life. KIVA: Kivas are underground pits lined with adobe dwellings which are covered with thatching. Their primary use is for spiritual enrichment and religious purposes in many Native American pueblos.
